Morten Hilmer is a wildlife photographer in Denmark. He purchased a farm for the purpose of rewilding the land. Wonderfully he is sharing the experience of wildlife in a Danish forest with the world by setting up a streaming surveillance camera. Then dispersing it to the internet via YouTube.
He hardwired a surveillance camera to his local internet connection and continuously streams the video. I particularly like his type of setup as there are no pans or zooms. You get to see what is in front of the camera in real time and no one acts as an intermediary choosing what you want to see. This gives as true a pacing of animal activity as is possible to achieve. I run this on my tablet nearly every day as I work. of course with the 9 hour time difference, that means I see more of the Danish night than day.
Here is a link to the webstream.
On April 30 2022 the following occurred. Morten asked that someone save the footage, so I did. What make this particularly special is Morten’s love for Badgers. Here are some of his badger videos. I give him joy for an evening filled with deer, foxes, and especially badgers.
I would like to express my gratitude to Morten as he helped me to select photography equipment. On his YouTube channel he shares his techniques and adventures. If you are interested in wildlife photography give his channel a view. His trips to Svalborg and Ellsmere Islands are particular favorites of mine.
Oh, and check out his wonderful photographs on his website.
